Cooke City Founding Fathers

The Cooke City cemetery is located only a short distance from town. Within the plot lie the remains of many who cherished the hope for the future of Cooke City, including one of its founders, Horn Miller (above, center). When lumber for coffins was needed, men of the community simply used parts of uninhabited buildings to construct the boxes.

Band plays on the Beartooth Highway during the 2006 Road Opening Celebration

For years the gateway community of Red Lodge, Montana has hosted a Road Opening Celebration to kick off summer on the Beartooth All-American Road. In 2011 the Celebration will take place on June 10 & 11 and will celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the opening on of the Beartooth Highway in 1936. Click here for more info!
