Did you know?Damaged section of the Beartooth Highway, May 25, 2005

On May 20, 2005 torrential rain, combined with melting snow created a "prefect road slide storm" on the switchback section of the Beartooth Highway located just south of Red Lodge, Montana. Rushing to the scene Montana Department of Transportation officials found that massive slides of mud, rocks and debris and severely damaged 13 sections of the Highway's famous "switchbacks". MTDOT, committed to the health and maintenance of the Beartooth Highway quickly contracted for road repairs and worked tirelessly to re-open the Highway. The Beartooth Highway was re-opened on October 7, 2005!
